Does Kyusho Work in Real Life?

Here is the questions, does Kyusho Jitsu work in real life, one the street?

If yo u surf the internet, especially YouTube you will see much debate over the application of Kyusho Jitsu. Now as far as YouTube goes the culture is typically very negative. Hundreds of paper martial artists watch movies and make judgments. What I find the most funny is how many dis-believers spend their time watching Kyusho video. Just doesn't make sence.

Kyusho is basically learning how to disrupt the nervous system of the body. Do you think a nerve stike will hurt? Certainly it will! If I hit you in the jaw line will you get dizzy and maybe pass out? Certainly!

Kyusho is the art of understanding how the human body works, from an electrical stand point, then learning how to take advantage of that. Does it work? YES it does. Will it work on a moving opponent? YES it will, I have done it! Can you knock someone out with it? YES you can. It works if they know, or don't know you are going to KO them. Does it work every time? NO.....Can you tell me something that does?

Martial Artist spend their lives looking for what works, but mostly what works for them. Kyusho is no different. Unfortunately martial artist often spend far too much time ridiculing things they don't understand and not enough time researching what might work.

Now I must put one thing in perspective here. Kyusho is not a complete art in of itself. It does require many, many years of study to perfect, however what art doesn't? The more experience you have in the arts, the easier the learning and application process will be. Kyusho will compliment any root art.

My final comment is on 'no touch' knockouts. The media has turned something that is 1/100th of the art of Kyusho into a circus. Are no touch knockout real? YES, I have done several, and on people who did not know what I was doing. Will they work on the street? NO, they won't! So, why do them? Why learn to do a scissor kick? Do you really think you could land one on two people? The purpose of learning and developing the 'no touch' is to show what is possible! To reach beyond the expected, develop the mind and body for more. If you are a dis-believer, good for you! You are certainly entitled to that opinion.

Recently I had someone email me offering $1000 to do a no touch knockout on him. I did not reply. I would be happy to teach him the art however. Then we could talk.

Retaining Adult Students

The biggest challenge for any martial art school owner is retaining students. But today I am going to talk about the retention of adult students. How do you run your school? Are you the person who opens and closes each night? Do you teach every class? Do you still have a full time job other than running a martial art school? Is this the way that you want it to be?

Now I run 3 locations, (one being franchised). It is obvious that this would be almost impossible to do alone. But to do this effectively I need well taught Black Belt adult students! This was not always an easy task!

How do you motive adults to keep training, become Black Belts and want to teach classes? You need an amazing and continuously growing curriculum! Without it you are dead!

The system that I originally started in was a Korean Hapkido/Tae Kwon Do mix like many of you did. At Black Belt there was simply only new patterns to learn. Maybe a few self defense techniques that we had realy already done. So why was I still there? Loyalty! I trained under my first instructor for 16 years. I stayed because we had become good friends, and I believed in loyality.

Do you think that is the best way to keep students? I don't either. You need a great curiculum, one that keeps them coming back night after night, wanting to learn more. The good news is, Kyusho Jitsu is just what you are looking for!

Kyusho Jitsu is a non-intrusive art, that once you begin to learn you can start to add to your existing root art. It will make the techniques you do much more effective, it will teach you how to break down your kata to make it more enjoyable to teach, as well as learn!

Now forget everything you think you know about Kyusho! There is a ton of hype about it on the internet, mostly coming from non martial artists sitting in front of a computer screen all night long. Drop into our website and learn more about this art and making it work for you! Find out about a hosting a one day seminar in your school (and make some money doing it) Register for the site and keep up to date on what is going on and how to grow your school with Kyusho (note I don't sell emails lists, nor do I spam my lists).

Is growing your school with 5 minutes of surfing time? You bet it is!

Learn the Secrets to keeping your adult students from dropping out!

Dear School Owners & Instructors,

Have you ever had a Black Belt quit and open a school down the street? What is the highest ranking Black Belt in your school? Would you like to retain the Black Belts that you promote? How is your retention of adult students? Would you like to keep the adults you enroll?

Is your system lacking in good material to teach your Black Belts and keep them coming to class? What are you teaching them; a few new Kata, some variations on your standard self defense techniques? Are you hoping their "loyalty" will keep them training with you?

Is it hard to keep Red and Brown Belt students motivated?

Is there a solution? The good new is YES! The answer to the problem of retaining advanced and black belt student is the art of Kyusho Jitsu. What is Kyusho? Kyusho is a non-intrusive art, that once the instructor knows it, can be integrated into any system or art without compromising tradition or the art itself!

I have been involved training and teaching the martial arts for 25 years. I spent 16 years with my first instructor and attained the rank of 4th Dan Black Belt while with him. Why did I stay so long? I was running a branch school for him, having a great time teaching, but after 1st Dan, except for learning a few new Kata, there was nothing! I started my search for something new to learn, without having to start all over again learning a completely different art.

In 2000 I opened my own school and started looking in earnest for things to teach my high ranking students. My instructor retired and a few of the high ranks that were with him followed me to my new school. But, what would I teach them?

In 2002 I found the answer, the pressure point study of Kyusho Jitsu. It has changed everything! Now students can’t wait till they reach Black Belt so they can study and learn more about pressure points; It has created new understanding of my root art, created new income streams for the school, and kept my Black Belts as PAYING students. In fact about 25% of my active student count is BLACK BELTS!

What do other martial artists think of Kyusho? Here are some testimonials from martial artists who have studied this technical art.

"I am 47 years old and have been studying various martial arts for the nearly 10 years, Kyusho Jitsu appeals, not only to my desire to learn something new and different, but more importantly and unlike mos arts like Tae Kwon Do, it appeals to a real need to know techniques that do not require me to go ;toe-to-toe" with a potential assailant. I am at an age where I would need to deal with any potential violent confrontation, with techniques that do not require me to be an Olympic athlete to succeed and walk away unscathed, Kyusho Jitsu techniques should allow me the best opportunity to survive just such situations regardless of the age and size of an assailant."

Don M. Black Belt

"Learning about Kyusho has not only improved my skills and understanding of the martial arts that I study, but it has taught me a great deal about the human body. Having only studying for about 1 year, it amazes me how little I know about the human body. Studying Kyusho teaches you to use the body's strength to heal, and takes its weaknesses and inflict pain or cause damage to help you defend yourself. I strongly recommend as a martial artist to apply the study of Kyusho to your training. Whether your a novice or Black Belt Master you will walk away with a better understanding of your martial art, and yourself as well. I look forward to continuing my education this mind opening art."

Michelle Poupard – Black Belt

What advantages are there for you in learning more about Kyusho?

* It will make your techniques work every time!
* Your smaller students will be able to make techniques work on large opponents
* Older students will feel younger because Kyusho is a science applied to your art, without stress.
* As you study it will help keep you light years ahead of your students.
* Teaches you how to really use your Kata!
* Find the ‘Hidden Secrets’ inside your Kata.

Now as a school owner and instructor much of my curriculum is setup for easy retention of new students. But compared to the ‘old days’ we are often teaching so much information in the first few years that there is nothing left for the advanced students. Lets face it, we need Black Belts in our system to continue our teaching, build a larger and stronger and more profitable school!

So what exactly are the reasons that students quit?

* There get BORED!
* Financial problems
* Move away
* Injury

We all know the truth, the number one reason is boredom; and that is the only one we can fix! The study of Kyusho, when applied to your root are, whatever it may be (TKD, Kempo, Goju etc.) it will provide you with an endless stream of materials to teach, enjoy and discover yourself, then teach it to your students.

So what exactly are you going to learn? What does the study of Kyusho give you?

* The proper methods of attacking a pressure point (nerve) to get maximum results every time, without needing a lot of power.
* How to make joint locks and throws effective regardless of the size of the attacker.
* Disable an attacker with minimum effort Learn ‘Humane Pressure Point Tactics’ to deal with a low level assault without doing excessive damage. (Great to teach police!)
* Get a deeper appreciation and understanding of your Kata.
* How to co ordinate the areas of attack for maximum effect.
* End an altercation in seconds without using excessive force!
* Much, much more….
