I am also very happy to announce the official release of our Level Two Kyusho Jitsu Instructor Certification Program! Level one came out summer of 2016 and was a huge success. We now have many KJWA members either certified or in the process of doing so!

When I created the KJWA there was a big plan for what we could offer to the members. There is of course individual membership, but there is also membership for the Dojo or School Owner. Both memberships are free, but there will be special features for the school owner.

Now of course there is Instructor Certification at the different levels, that is all part of growing the art. It is also VERY necessary. For the individual there is also the ability to reach the different levels of Black Belt. Personal growth is a MUST for all martial artists! But something brand new coming in 2017 will be the "business and marketing" division in which I will help school owners with the promotion and marketing aspects of school operations. This is naturally only for those who are interested!

What are the 10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu?

If you are a reader of this blog, or have some experience of Kyusho Jitsu you will have heard for the 5 principles of Kyusho. But those are the novice principles and there are actually more!
When you enter our advanced course of study you very soon discover another 5 you need to learn! So below is a list of the 10 for you!

1. Attack Along the Meridian
2. Attack using the Cycle of Destruction
3. Attack with Yin and Yang
4. Attack with correct Body Mechanics
5. Attack with rhythm or tempo
6. Attack with Sound
7. Attack using Colour
8. Attacking using correct stances
9. Attack using the Diurnal Cycle
10. Attack using the emotions cycle

Now in the master level we add even more principles to this! But that is beyond the scope of this post!
Yes! There really is that much you can learn if you chose to do so! And we have not even gotten into the Alarm Points!

The Romanian Martial Arts Training Camp

I keep meaning to talk abut this, but I so often forget! Coming the weekend of July 14th 2017 in Brasov Romania will be a brand new and hopefully yearly event called the Romanian Martial Arts Training Camp. It will be primarily a Kyusho event, but there will likely be a few surprises along the way also. Now I moved to Brasov almost a year ago. And one great thing about holding this event in Romania is the US Dollar and the Euro are very strong here so the trip is very reasonable for most people.
The cost of living here is amazingly low as a foreigner!
Now not all the details are in place as of yet, but they are coming very soon! The date however is firm! So if it is of interest to you, visit the Facebook link I am providing and subscribe to the updates.

Attention Martial Arts Enthusiasts...Are you still learning???

Are you still learning? Do you have the beginners mind?

Are you still learning? Do yo have the white belt mindset? The real truth is that learning never stops and if you have stopped you are going backwards.

A long time ago I invited many high ranking martial arts grand masters to a seminar. Five out of six of them jumped at it! After they said yes I asked of they would consider doing a segment at the seminar. They were happy too! Real grand masters!

But one told me, and I quote.... "i don't attend seminars I give them."

That told me everything I needed to know about him. Ego and no substance.

A real master knows there is still much to learn, just like the novice does. In fact learning continues and becomes a passion. It is call "self improvement."

Yesterday I concluded the grading via video of my head teacher at my dojo in Windsor. It has been a long process since I have been gone almost a year now. He did amazing! For anyone in my school who hits the coveted master levels afterwards it become all about education and improvement. How many kata can I really see?

The Secrets to Making Every Martial Artist More Effective

Every honest martial artists knows he or her system is not complete. There are only a handful that are, and they are not easy to find teachers in. There are some great systems out there, but they are incomplete.

Bruce Lee built a reputation on saying that. He also admitted his system needed much work and growth.

Years ago I read one of the worst martial arts books I have ever seen. Confessions of a Grand Master or something like that. He would talk about things in other styles and they say how "we have that in.." Sounds like BS to me.

Now my root is a Hapkido / Taekwondo mix. I knew back 17 years ago how incomplete it was, so I began to study anything I felt I could add to the art, and still keep the major movement intact. People will develop interests and passions in certain areas, likes and dislikes. One very popular system being added or taught separately today is Krav Maga. Now it is not for me, I prefer Systema when we are talking combat systems, but it is great that martial artists look to expand those horizons.

Pressure Points / Kyusho Jitsu or whatever else you wish to call it is another fantastic addition to any martial arts study.

Why?

• It is pretty easy to integrate into any system
• It helps give meaning to movements that just don't seem to make sense.
• It allows for controller the escalation of a self defense situation. Combat systems don't really do that.
• It works!
